Hey,
I'm new to town so I'm not sure if this is normal for El Paso or not, but in the last 24 hours I've come across 4 different stray dogs. I live on Zaragoza, and last night my dog alerted me to a small black poodle who was running around with no owner. After checking him out, he is clearly someone's pet...he has a collar but no tag, and a neckerchief (clean) tied around his neck. His teeth and nails are in good condition, and he has been recently clipped. Since I am full up with animals already, my lovely neighbours looked after him last night, and we are making posters this morning to put up around the area. I have high hopes that we can find his owner. However, this morning my husband and I were shocked to see a large collie mix, a german shepherd, and a (pregnant looking) boxer very casually walk through the apartment lawns together. The area is gated, but after a moment's rest, they all squeezed through the fence, and through a storm drain. After that, I lost sight of them, and I checked that they didn't just lay down in the drain. Since I just arrived here, it took me about half an hour to find the number of a no kill shelter, but have since left a message with the Animal rescue league of El Paso. If anyone knows of a better site to list found stray dogs then please let me know at
