The dog park in West El Paso (High Ridge) is under construction, however, I have gotten emails from people saying that the park should have been opened already. I have spoken to Rep. Lilly and Nanette Smejkal, Director of the Parks and Recreation Dept. as well as Wayne Thornton, Parks & Recreation Public Relations. The park is expected to open about August of this year, 2011. This is because the grass will be planted once the main contruction is completed, estimated around June or July. It takes about a month for the grass to come in and to stabilize. So again, the dog park in West El Paso will open in August. HOPEFULLY.... I understand everyone's frustration. This is a project that has been in the works for several years. It's been delayed time and time again, but this is the closest we've ever gotten. The park is being built. Please be patient. Also keep in mind that there are other dog parks in El Paso. |
